Overview

A growing life sciences organization is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to oversee financial operations, reporting, compliance, budgeting, and strategic financial planning. This hands-on leadership role is ideal for a self-directed accounting and finance professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and partnering across departments to support business growth. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in GAAP accounting, financial analysis, cost accounting, and process improvement. This position also includes supervisory responsibilities and offers the opportunity to contribute to strategic initiatives across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records in accordance with GAAP.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Assist with annual budgeting and ongoing financial forecasting.
  • Monitor budget performance and variance analyses.
  • Make recommendations to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.

Accounting & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and tax regulations.
  • Coordinate property, franchise, and income tax filings with external tax advisors.
  • Develop and maintain internal financial controls and company policies.

Cost Accounting & Inventory Oversight

  • Manage inventory accounting, controls, and tracking processes.
  • Maintain and update bills of materials (BOMs), routings, and costing structures.
  • Conduct profitability, margin, and pricing analyses for products and services.

Accounts Receivable & Risk Management

  • Oversee customer credit approvals and accounts receivable collections.
  • Manage corporate insurance renewals and related risk management activities.

Leadership & Process Improvement

  • Supervise day-to-day bookkeeping and purchasing functions.
  • Partner with leadership to identify operational efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Recommend improvements to financial systems, reporting structures, and accounting processes.
  • Support special projects and other finance-related initiatives as needed.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting and finance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred:

  • CPA and/or MBA.
  • Experience within manufacturing, biotechnology, life sciences, or a related industry.
  • Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting systems.
  • Professional fluency in French.
